Taming of the Shrew Nov 2013

Shrew312What do sharp-tongued barbs, quick-witted comebacks and 1950s hair styles all have in common? They’re all part of Stage North’s upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s ribald comedy, The Taming of the Shrew. Being a traditional Bard comedy set in the Golden Era of the 50s, this show is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

At its heart, the play is a love story wrapped in layers of deception, disguise and the occasional cross dressing page. The vision of director, Dawn Ljuden, is to transport the language and comedic timing of Shakespeare to a different time and place. With the assistance of a stellar cast and crew, including lead actors Ted Sloan and Sarah Lyons in the roles of Petruchio and Katherina respectively, Dawn intends to bring a new twist to this classic and timeless show.

The Taming of the Shrew runs November 7, 8, 9, 14 & 15 at the North Peace Cultural Centre. Tickets are available in person at the Cultural Centre box office, online or by calling 250-785-1992. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors & students, or $15 for children. All shows begin at 7pm.
